Federal—Value of Data

  • October 2013: DMA’s Data-Driven Marketing Institute (DDMI) convened policymakers, industry thought leaders, and the press at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to celebrate the release of its first major academic study, entitled “The Value of Data: Consequences for Insight, Innovation, and Efficiency in the U.S. Economy.” The event featured a keynote address by Representative Lee Terry (R-NE), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade.
  • October 2013: DMA’s President and CEO Linda Woolley announced the creation of the Data Protection Alliance, a new legislative coalition that focuses specifically on ensuring that effective regulation and legislation protects the value of the data-driven marketing economy far into the future. The coalition also called on Congress to focus its legislative efforts around data policy on the “Five Fundamentals for the Future.”Make sure your website privacy policy is easily accessible and available prior to or at the time information used for online behavioral advertising purposes is collected.
  • October 2013: DMA’s President and CEO Linda Woolley officially announced the release of the Data-Driven Marketing Institute’s groundbreaking study, entitled “The Value of Data: Consequences for Insight, Innovation and Efficiency in the U.S. Economy,” at DMA2013 in Chicago.
  • October 2013: DMA’s Executive Director of the Data-Driven Marketing Institute Rachel Nyswander Thomas hosted a webinar to help members learn more about the findings of DDMI’s “Value of Data” study.
  • October 2012: DMA’s Vice President of Government Affairs Rachel Nyswander Thomas held a webinar to discuss the Data-Driven Marketing Institute’s role in addressing serious threats to today’s data-driven marketing landscape.
  • October 2012: DMA’s President and CEO Linda Woolley announced the launch of the Data-Driven Marketing Institute to engage the entire marketing industry in a coordinate campaign to set the record straight about the countless ways that data-driven marketing benefits consumers—and fuels the data-driven economy.
